Is there a free version available?
Yes! The extension is free with no sign-up: all 10 annotation tools, unlimited annotations, and screenshots you can download or copy to your clipboard. Premium is optional and covers what comes after annotating — Markdown and JSON export, sending annotated screenshots to Slack, Discord or your own webhook, and priority support.
Is my data secure with you?
Yes. Your annotations, highlights, sticky notes and drawings are stored only in your browser's local storage and never reach our servers, so we cannot read them. Three things can leave your browser: a screenshot you choose to send to Slack, Discord or your own webhook, your name and email if you sign in with Google, and anonymous usage statistics (for example "a screenshot was taken") that never include page addresses, page content or what you write. Firefox sends no statistics at all. You can export your annotations at any time.
Can I use the extension on multiple browsers?
Yes! Highlite is available for Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. Annotating works the same on all of them.
Does the extension work on all websites?
Yes — Highlite works on virtually any website you can open in your browser, including live sites, staging environments, and password-protected pages. It runs on the page directly, so there is no setup. The only exceptions are browser system pages (like the Chrome Web Store or chrome:// settings), which all extensions are blocked from accessing.
