Placing and editing a sticky note
Pick the Sticky note tool, click anywhere on the page, and start typing. The note is a fixed-size card with a colored background; switch to the Select tool to drag it elsewhere, double-click it to edit the text, or change its color and font size from the panel that appears. Delete it with the Eraser, or undo the last action.
Notes stay where you left them
Every note is saved locally, tied to the page URL, as soon as you create it. Reopen the page and it is exactly where you left it, with its text, color and size. Nothing is uploaded: the note never leaves your browser unless you capture a screenshot or export the page as JSON.
Where sticky notes fit
Sticky notes are the tool for feedback that needs a sentence: why a component should move, which ticket a bug belongs to, a question for the author. For a short label without a card, use a text box. For pointing at something without words, use an arrow. Most reviews use all three on the same page, then capture one screenshot.
What sticky notes does not do
- A sticky note is a fixed-size card. Text shrinks to fit and cannot overflow it, so a note holds a few sentences, not a paragraph. Use several notes, or a text box, for longer comments.
- Notes contain plain text only: no formatting, links, images or mentions.
- Notes are private to your browser. Teammates do not see them unless you send a screenshot or a JSON export (Premium). There are no replies, threads or assignees.
- There is no overview of notes across pages, and no search: notes are found by reopening the page they were made on.
- Notes cannot be placed on browser-internal pages (chrome://, about:) or on the Chrome Web Store.
