How to use the laser pointer on a call

Steps
- Start sharing your screen or the browser tab in your call app.
- Click the Highlite icon to open the toolbar on the page you are presenting.
- Click Laser pointer, or press L.
- Click and drag over the part of the page you are talking about. The stroke stays visible for about a second and a half, then fades out.
- Press L again, or Esc, to put the pointer down. Strokes already on screen finish fading.
Keep the toolbar out of the way
Click the Highlite logo at the left of the toolbar to shrink it to a small round button while you present, and use L to pick up the pointer. The color and size you choose in the panel apply to the laser too.
Pointing versus marking
Use the laser for things you only need to show once. When a point should stay on the page, for a screenshot after the call or a follow-up, switch to Arrow or Highlight instead. Reset all clears the page when you are done.
Limitations
- Laser strokes are not saved and cannot be undone or brought back.
- Highlite does not share anything itself. People on the call see the laser only because they see your screen, through your call app's screen sharing.
Frequently asked questions
Do people on the call need Highlite installed?
No. They see the pointer through your screen share. Only the person presenting needs the extension.
Does the laser pointer leave marks on the page?
No. Each stroke fades after about two seconds and nothing is saved. Use the Arrow or Highlight tools for marks that should stay.
Can I change the color of the laser pointer?
Yes. It uses the color and size selected in the panel, like the other tools.
