How to screenshot an annotated webpage

Steps
- Annotate the page, then click Export in the toolbar or press Ctrl+Shift+E (Cmd+Shift+E on Mac).
- Under Capture, choose Viewport for what is on screen, Full page for the whole scrollable page, or Selection for an area you pick.
- Under Destination, click Download or Copy to clipboard.
- In Selection mode, drag a rectangle over the area when the hint "Click and drag to select an area to capture" appears. Esc cancels.
- A "Screenshot saved" or "Copied to clipboard" message confirms the capture. Paste a copied image with Ctrl+V (Cmd+V on Mac) in Slack, Jira, an email or a document.
Which capture mode to use
Viewport is the fastest and the right choice for one element with an arrow on it. Full page scrolls through the page, captures it screen by screen, stitches the pieces into one image and puts you back where you were. Selection gives you an image already cropped to the part that matters.
What ends up in the image
Every highlight, sticky note, text box, drawing, arrow and shape is rendered in place. The Highlite toolbar is hidden during the capture. Downloads are PNG files named after the date and time, saved in your usual downloads folder.
Limitations
- Full-page captures are stitched, so elements fixed to the screen (sticky headers, cookie banners) repeat in each piece, content that loads while scrolling can be missing, and horizontal overflow is not captured.
- Very long pages are cut: a full-page capture stops at 16000 device pixels tall.
- A screenshot is a flat image. To hand over annotations someone can keep editing, export them as JSON (Premium).
- Browser pages, extension store pages and other extensions cannot be captured.
Frequently asked questions
Are Highlite screenshots free?
Yes. All three capture modes, downloading as PNG and copying to the clipboard are free, with no account and no watermark.
Does the Highlite toolbar appear in the screenshot?
No. The toolbar is hidden while the capture is taken, and your annotations are shown.
Why is the header repeated in my full-page screenshot?
Full page mode captures the page one screen at a time and stitches the pieces together. A header that stays fixed at the top of the screen is in every piece. Use Selection or Viewport if that gets in the way.
