What Highlite does on Edge
Edge is built on Chromium, so Highlite runs there with the same toolbar as on Chrome: text highlighting, sticky notes, text boxes, freehand drawing, arrows and shapes, five colors, four sizes, undo and redo. Annotations are saved in Edge, tied to the page URL, and restored when you return. Capture the viewport or a selected area, then download the PNG or copy it to the clipboard.
Installed from Edge Add-ons
Highlite has its own listing on the Microsoft Edge Add-ons store, so you install it from there with one click and it updates automatically. You can also install the Chrome Web Store version in Edge if you prefer; both are the same extension.
What the Edge build does not have yet
The Edge build currently ships the free plan only. Signing in to a Highlite account, sending screenshots to Slack and exporting annotations as JSON are live on Chrome and not yet on Edge. Importing a JSON file works. If you need the Premium destinations today, use Chrome.
Limitations on Edge
- Premium is not available on the Edge build yet: no account sign-in, no Slack destination, no JSON export. Everything in the free plan works.
- Highlite cannot run on browser-internal pages (edge://) or on extension store pages; the icon is grayed out there.
- Annotations are stored in this browser profile only. They are not synced to another device or another browser, and uninstalling the extension deletes them.
- Annotations are positioned on the page as it was laid out when you made them. A page that renders differently later, or content generated dynamically, can shift or lose an annotation.
